Be a Disciple | Make a Disciple

History of Our Church

South Shelby Baptist Church is a dynamic, loving, active church located on Highway 145 in south Shelby County, Alabama just outside of the town of Shelby. We meet for Bible Fellowship Classes at 9:45 am, Sunday Worship at 11:00 am, Sunday Evening Service at 6:00 pm and Wednesday Evening Service at 6:30 pm.

South Shelby Baptist Church is a fellowship of believers that’s purpose is to know God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to equip believers through discipleship. Showing God’s love, we strive to reach a hungry world with Jesus Christ through obedience to the Great Commission.

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Our Pastor, David Warren, has pastored SSBC since 2013. The late Brother Tom Minor was South Shelby’s pastor for 11 years. David is a man of God’s word that will challenge you with each message. He presents the Truth in a manner that is easily understandable and applicable, but with depth that causes you to continue pondering long after the sermon has ended.

Our church was founded in 2001 by a small group of believers on a front porch.  After a short period in the Kingdom area of Columbiana, Alabama, in 2005 we found ourselves back in Shelby where we call home. Over the years, SSBC has been a beacon to the surrounding area through our local, state, domestic, and global ministries. We are members of the Alabama State Board of Missions through the Cooperative Program, the Shelby Baptist Association, and the Southern Baptist Convention.
